Together with the rapid development of computer science, information industry and other hi-tech knowledge, the technology of Geographical Information System (GIS) is growing up step-by-step, and extending into every domain of our social life. It puts forward higher requirement to use and cultivate the GIS Professional. Based on analyzing the hi-speed development of the Geographical Information System and the status of the professional cultivating of GIS. This paper studies the professional cultivating of GIS, discusses the subject characteristic of GIS, brings forward the essence making which the GIS professional can be have. Finally, puts forward the basic thought and the developing trend of the professional cultivating of GIS.
